Kathleen Gibson ’81 became Southwestern Medical Foundation’s 10th President and first female president in 2012. Previously, she served Citibank as President of Texas and Central US Commercial. She also served Bank of America for 25 years as Head of Asset Management Risk, President of Southwest US Private Banking, Head of Southwest Corporate Banking, and President of Bank of America Dallas.
Active in the north Texas community, Gibson currently serves on the boards of Southwestern Medical Foundation, Texas A&M Foundation, Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations, and the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas. Her previous board service includes the Dallas Regional Chamber, Children’s Medical Center, Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, The Dallas Opera, The Lamplighter School, Dallas Citizens Council, and the Dallas 2012 Olympic Bid Committee.
In addition to chairing the board of Texas A&M Foundation, Gibson serves her alma mater as a member on the Advisory Board of The Bush School of Government and Public Service and the AgriLife Vice Chancellor’s Form. She is a past Chair of The Association of Former Students. Recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus, she is a Tyrus R. Timm Honor Registry and Women’s Legacy Awards recipient. She is a Fish Camp Namesake and 2018 Campus Muster Speaker.
Dallas Business Journal identified Gibson as a “Top 25 Industry Leader in Women in Business,” while Profiles in Diversity Journal listed her in its 10th Annual “Women Worth Watching” edition.
Born in Texas, Gibson lived several early years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University and attended Southern Methodist University in both Oxford, England, and Russia. She and her husband, Robert, have two daughters, Catherine and Sarah ’15.
