Dr. Sidney W. Theis is the CEO and owner of RDRTec Inc. He enjoys a distinguished 40-year career in developing advanced military radars for the Department of Defense. Before forming his own company, Sid served as Lead Engineer with Boeing and as a Senior Member of Technical Staff with both Texas Instruments and Raytheon. Furthermore, Sid recently became Radar Lead for Special Committee 228, supporting the FAA’s efforts to safely integrate Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drones) into the National Air Space, specifically emphasizing Air Taxis for Civilian Transport.
Dr. Theis currently serves on The Board of Trustees of Florida Polytechnic University, Texas A&M Galveston Board of Visitors, and The Texas Higher Education Foundation Board, in addition to being a Texas Governor’s Council member.
Sid is a 5th-generation Texan, born and raised in Thorndale. He is thankful for the love, encouragement, and work ethic instilled in him by his parents while growing up on the family farm. Sid’s heart remains committed to the advancement of Texas youth. He generously supports Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, Our Redeemer Lutheran School, and Hillsdale’s Barney Charter School Initiative. Additionally, Sid mentors Texas A&M’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter, which was named YAF Chapter of The Year in 2020.
Dr. Theis earned a B.S. in Physics, an M.S. in Meteorology, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University. He embarked upon his 20-year service in the U.S. Air Force as a Meteorologist upon completing his undergraduate degree, first on active duty and later transitioning to reserve status.
