Sarah Keyton

Effective August 2024, Sarah Keyton was named the Interim Commissioner of Higher Education by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Keyton has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Administration since May 2022, leading agency administration, including financial services, human resources, information technologies and security, and state funding. Prior to joining the THECB, Sarah worked as the Associate Vice Chancellor for State Relations for the Texas Tech University System and the Assistant Director of the Legislative Budget Board. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Houston and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. Sarah lives in Austin with her husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Ivy.
