Developmental Education Research

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is collaborating with American Institutes for Research (AIR) and the RAND Corporation to study developmental education. Their research will focus on the policy changes that were adopted by Texas to move students more efficiently through developmental education courses into credit-bearing courses.

Texas’ developmental education policy reforms are intended to reduce costs to taxpayers and improve student retention and degree attainment. This research will provide higher education decision makers with verifiable information about developmental education and its impact on student success rates.
